Budapest, Hungary - The "Mecca" for dental tourism

And so it is...We've been dealing with many Brits coming over for dentistry from the UK for over 5 years now. I can honestly say it's been quite surprising to hear the number of 'terror tales ' coming from the UK with regards to getting good dental treatment. And the prices! Wow! You may need to sell your house or car just to take care of your teeth...ie porcelain crowns (500UK), veneers (400UK), titanium implants (2,000UK), etc...even just a visit to the dentist for a consultation can run you a 100UK or more.

Besides the financial aspects associated with dental care, one of the most important things I've learned with regards to dentistry is the everyday psychology of a person with bad teeth. I've been lucky with respect to my teeth. Besides having a 1-unit bridge in the front, placed when I was in my teens, I've had no problems with my teeth. But, I do remember, back in the early days, when they first put that bridge in, that it did fall out on occasion and when it did, how self-conscious I immediately became. Of course, who wouldn't be... I was 16 and at that age, you need to look 'cool' or just stay home!

Well, what I learned is that not much has changed since. Even as adults, having missing or bad teeth and/or oral hygiene literally means you're probably afraid to open your mouth, smile, meet new people and enjoy yourself to the fullest extent with others. Well, that can be a real damper on getting a new job and making new relationships - either business or personal.

So, let's face it, you need to take care of your teeth and now you can do it at incredibly affordable prices, close to home and in a very short period of treatment time.

My purpose in starting this blog is to share information with you about plastic surgeons, dentists, clinics & hospitals, available treatments and their costs in Budapest, Hungary.

As traveling abroad for medical treatments or more commonly 'Medical Tourism' becomes more popular, having first hand information from the inside about medical professionals, clinics, treatments and costs makes a big difference.

There is a big arbitrage situation going on in the world now. As the costs of medical and dental treatment continues to rise, price gaps continue to grow between Eastern block countries like Hungary and the West. If you have the right information, you can save thousands on exactly the same treatments with the same highly trained professionals as in your home country.

Merely doing a google search on the Internet doesn't really guarantee you will get what is offered. Anyone can say anything on the Internet. There's really no way to check. However, I've been here in Budapest for 16+ years, I'm a doctor myself and I did my medical training here in Budapest from 1993-1999. I've worked in health care in Budapest ever since and this means I have access to inside information and experience about healthcare professionals that you couldn't possibly have.
